Mar.20--US LABOUR Secretary Tom Perez blamed everyone and praised everyone though the seemed to blame the waterfront bosses more than the dockers union for creating the impasse on the west coast.
Speaking at a Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce event in Washington, in a generally even-handed speech, he said the employers group, the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) should be reformed without suggesting changes the union might make.
Mr Perez said the PMA leadership needs to be reformed, reported American Shipper.
"Most of the (PMA) board members are VPs," he said. "No disrespect to them, but we went over their heads. I got a hold of Maersk's CEO when he was in New Zealand and said, do you know what's going on? We needed to elevate. We needed to escalate."
Mr Perez said the situation would have never been resolved without the work of fellow Democrats Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia.
