May.13--THE Alabama State Port Authority (ASPA) has approved the acquisition of two industrial tracts adjacent to its Choctaw Point Complex at the Port of Mobile which includes the APM Terminals Mobile, the intermodal CTF and the intermodal logistics park.
These port intermodal investments are needed for long range growth for Mobile port which handles 25 million tons of cargo annually, said ASPA chief executive James Lyons.
The 35-acre site is on the port's federal shipping channel adjacent to APM Terminals Mobile, providing expansion opportunities for the container terminal as will as access for two Interstate highways and five Class 1 railways.
The second industrial tract is a separate 63 acre located adjacent to the intermodal logistics park which covers 95 acres for warehousing, distribution and light manufacturing.
