Feb.28--CHINA posted a 5.6 per cent year-on-year increase in national waterway traffic to 400 million tonnes in January and a 9.3 per cent rise in road freight to 2.87 billion tonnes, Xinhua reports.

　　Waterway cargo traffic turnover went up 5.8 per cent to 699.5 billion tonnes per kilometre. Road turnover was 531.8 billion tonnes per kilometre, up 11.4 per cent.
